Ntem and MDC are Archean terrains and form the northwest margin of the Congo Craton. The Noya series comprises Neoproterozoic metasediments and the youngest rocks are found in sediments from the Cretaceous coastal belt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ntem and MDC terrains are typical green rocks with 1st order shear and are, therefore, prospective for mesothermal gold deposits similar to those elsewhere in the Congo Craton. Coarse-grained alluvial gold is produced by artisanal miners in many places and particularly in Coro, Aconibe and Mongomo.
